The College of Engineering and Computer Science launched the “Peer Mentor” initiative during the academic year 1447 AH, aiming to support students academically through a peer-to-peer guidance approach—one of the modern methods proven to enhance understanding and promote collaborative learning.

The initiative seeks to improve students’ academic performance, strengthen teamwork, and develop communication and explanation skills among student volunteers, contributing to a supportive and engaging learning environment.

The initiative witnessed strong participation, with 86 students involved in the first semester and 348 in the second semester. Participants included both volunteer mentors providing academic support and students benefiting from the sessions.

The program covered seven academic courses based on students’ needs, including Programming 1, Programming 2, Databases, Cybersecurity, Discrete Mathematics, Linear Algebra, and Differential Equations.

Implemented throughout the academic year from October until its end, the initiative utilized Telegram channels and interactive groups to facilitate discussions and deliver both live and recorded explanations of course materials.

The initiative was promoted عبر multiple channels, including the Blackboard system and student WhatsApp groups, which helped expand its reach and maximize participation.

Supervised and coordinated by Dr. Fatimah Ryan, the initiative reflects the college’s commitment to adopting impactful programs that support students academically, enhance their skills, and foster a collaborative university community that drives academic excellence.
