The College of Engineering and Computer Science conducted a training program titled “Data Governance” on Thursday, May 14, 2026. The program was organized by the Academic Advising and Guidance Unit and delivered by Dr. Israa Al-Dosouqi, targeting male and female students as well as members of the wider community.

The program comes as part of the college’s efforts to raise awareness of the importance of managing data as a strategic asset, and to promote practices that ensure data quality, security, and efficiency in supporting organizational decision-making.

The session covered several key topics, including an introduction to the concepts of data, governance, and data governance, as well as the distinction between data management and data governance. It also highlighted the role of governance in improving data quality, ensuring compliance, protecting information, and enabling informed decision-making.

In addition, the program focused on how to build a data governance framework aligned with organizational objectives by identifying institutional needs, selecting appropriate capabilities, and designing a flexible and applicable governance model. It emphasized the importance of adapting frameworks and models to suit each organization’s culture, maturity level, goals, and risk profile.

This initiative underscores the college’s commitment to delivering impactful programs that strengthen digital awareness and empower individuals to leverage data effectively, supporting digital transformation and enhancing organizational outcomes.
