The College of Engineering and Computer Science organized a training program titled “Hands-on Hadoop: Big Data Storage and Processing using Hadoop” on Wednesday, April 22, 2026. The program targeted male and female students and was delivered under the supervision of the college, led by Dr. Samia Souissi, as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance practical skills in big data and distributed computing.

The program aimed to equip students with the essential skills required to store, process, and analyze large and complex datasets using the Apache Hadoop framework, enabling them to address big data challenges through modern approaches rather than relying on traditional, costly, and limited systems.

The training included intensive hands-on sessions covering the core components of Hadoop, including the Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS) and MapReduce for data processing. It also provided practical exercises on data management, ingestion, and building scalable prototype applications in big data environments.

In addition, the program focused on strengthening participants’ understanding of distributed computing mechanisms and enabling them to gain direct practical experience in designing and implementing large-scale data processing solutions, thereby enhancing their readiness for the job market in data analytics and modern computing fields.

The program reflects students’ growing interest in big data technologies and their real-world applications, as well as their critical role in supporting digital transformation and data-driven decision-making.
