<p>About the Committee:</p>
<p>Community service is the third function of modern universities besides education and scientific research. This is clearly expressed in the message and strategic objectives of both Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University and the college of computer Engineering and Science. The college formed a community service committee to plan, coordinate and manage activities targeted to the community. Usually, community activities can be classified into three categories namely are continuing education, technology transfer, and community participation. The committee has repressive from each department, it sets a plan of activities for each academic year and then implements in coordination with the relevant units or committees within the college or on the university level. At the college level the committee work and coordinated with Alumni Unit, Digital Creativity Unit, Scientific Research Unit, Electronic Distance Learning Unit, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship Committee, and Digital Content Committee. At the University level, it works and coordinates with the Deanship of Community Service and Continuing Education, the Center for Continuing Education, and the Prince Abdulrahman bin Nasser Institute for Research and Consulting Services in the Technology Transfer and the Deanship of Student Affairs in the Community Participation Center. The committee works under the supervision of the Vice Dean for Development, Quality, Graduate Studies, and Scientific Research.</p>
<p>Committee Tasks:</p>
<p>The Community Service Committee undertakes several tasks which were defined in the administration decree of its formation and includes the following tasks:</p>
<p>Studying the community needs and encouraging students to establish events that serve the community.<br>
Coordinate with Student Activities Committee and the Graduate Unit to the establishment of events.<br>
Dissemination of the culture of volunteer work among faculty and students.<br>
Developing new ways and means of community service.<br>
Coordinating with the Deanship of Community Service to provide community services.<br>
Deliver periodic reports on the work of the Committee to the Vice Dean for Development, Quality, Graduate Studies, and Scientific Research.<br>
In order to carry out its tasks, the Community Service Committee applied the good practices recommended to the standard 11 Institutional Relationships with the Community in Self Evaluation Scales for Higher Education Institutions document. It Includes the following practices:</p>
<p>Encouraging the faculty to participate in seminars that discuss important issues in society.<br>
Establish relations with the local industrial sector and employers.<br>
Inviting employers and professionals concerned with the program to join appropriate advisory committees that consider the program and other activities of the college.<br>
Linking the college with schools in the district, providing them with help and support in the fields of computing.<br>
Maintain contact with alumni, inform them about the program's developments, and invite them to participate in activities.<br>
Make use of the opportunities available to request financial support from individuals or community organizations for scientific research and other development.<br>
Keep records of the community service that you do and record them in a database<br>
