The Student Advisory Council is the university’s platform to enhance student participation and develop the spirit of belonging to the college and the university, by building bridges of partnership between students and the academic and administrative authorities of the university. In addition, it develops dialogue, leadership skills, teamwork spirit and patriotism among students.

 

Student Council Objectives:

1) Developing Islamic and moral values ​​among students and enhancing belonging to the country.

2) Representing the student’s vision in everything related to the educational process.

3) understanding the needs of the student council and forward them honestly and objectively to the relevant authorities.

4) Encouraging dialogue and participation mechanisms and supporting constructive communication between the student council, the educational administrative authorities, and academic leaders.

5) Discovering and refining student leaders, talents, and skills, and developing their creative spirit.

6) Creating an interactive environment in the intellectual, social, sports and artistic fields within the university through various competitions and events.

 

Candidature conditions:

The candidature for membership in student council is performed after filling out the membership form approved by the Higher Committee of Student Councils and fulfilling a set of conditions necessary for the candidate, namely:

1) The candidate for the Student Council must be known for his/her integrity and have a serious desire to serve the causes of his fellow students.

2) The candidate must be a regular student at the university, and his/her GPA should not be less than 2.75 out of 5.

3) His/her record should not contain academic warnings and disciplinary penalties.

4) He/she must have spent at least two semesters at the university or college.

5) He/she should not be a student expected to graduate.

6) It is required that the future candidate obtains at least 10 student signatures to run for the student council membership elections.

7) The student list is required to obtain at least 20 student signatures to run for the student council membership elections.

8) The secondary Student Council Committees in the concerned college accepts or rejects the candidacy application.

9) Candidacy for student council membership is made based on student lists or independently.

10) The number of members of the student list is 5, with the condition that the above conditions are fulfilled for each member of the list and that the student list includes students of different academic levels.

 

Candidate rights:

1) The student has the right to membership in student councils for three consecutive sessions or four non-consecutive sessions during the period of his studies at the college.

2) The candidate has the right to present an electoral program, including introductory lectures and debates with the rest of the competitors, in accordance with the terms and conditions mentioned in the regulations.

3) The candidate has the right to objection of the election results before the Elections Commission.

4) The candidate has the right to objection of the decision of rejecting his application for candidacy by the secondary Student Council Committees to the Higher Committee of the Electoral Councils.

 

Candidate duties:

1) A candidate for student council membership must respect the rules and regulations adopted by the university.

2) The candidate should avoid anything that might disturb the good progress of electing student councils and their work.

3) The candidate should not use tribal, religious, or regional slogans in his campaign.

4) The college secondary Student Council Committees have the right to cancel the candidacy of the violating candidate and refer him to the Higher Student Councils Committee to recommend the appropriate penalty.

5) Do not criticize or disparage the rest of the competing candidates.

6) To believe that nomination is a mandate and not an honor.
